"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm" - George Orwell

So yeah,

I have a funeral to attend this week.

My friend David. An awesome musician, a man you couldn't be angry around, a man that only saw the good in every one.

 We jammed every time we saw each other.
We knew what to do when we had a hundred mile trip into the Gulf of Mexico.
And when he was catching, he didn't even know it was raining.
We really did jam. This one was a benefit for the Texas Open Beaches Act.
That's David on the far left and me on the far right.

He grew up with Clint and Kevin Black in Spring Branch. I enjoyed the stories he told me of that time.

I can't begin to describe how big the hole in my heart is. He did sign my guitar one night after a sweet jamb. He asked me why and I told him because he was a legend in his own mind. But really he was a legend in the mind of anyone that met him.

Please, my brother, rest easy. I'll see you someday, somewhere. I love you, man.

Well said.

Something I got in email today.

This rather brilliantly cuts thru all the political doublespeak we get.
It puts it into a much better perspective.

Lesson # 1:

* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts so far: $3.85

Got It ?????

OK, now Lesson # 2: Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:

Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do ......

Raise the ceilings, or pump out the crap?

Your choice is coming November 6, 2012.

Well the chemo went well.

If you can actually say that about the toxic waste they put in her system. Two of the four are giving her fits. One makes her cold sensitive. Anything she touches that is cold sends a shock type feeling through her system. She wears cotton jersey gloves when she has to deal with cold. The effect usually wears off  in a couple of days.

The other one is causing me more concern. Side effect is neuropathy, it's causing her hands to cramp. The swelling in her liver seems to be receding so that is a hopeful sign.

God bless the nurses. They are awesome.
Chemo today.

Subject: 35 YRS MARRIAGE

After 35 years of marriage, a husband and wife came for counseling. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the years they had been married. On and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured.
Finally, after allowing this for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking the wife to stand, he embraced and kissed her long and passionately as her husband watched - with a raised eyebrow. The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze.
The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you do this?"
"Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I fish."

My dear sweet bride.

31 years ago we set off on a life trek. We didn't know exactly where or how it would go. We both bought a ticket and agreed the price was worth the adventure. I asked you to leave the only place you had ever known and move to a place you had only heard was made of legends. Now you have 6 grandchildren that are native Texans and you are proud of that. You made our life here as comfortable and natural as could be.

We have some rocky trails ahead of us right now, but I wouldn't want any one else holding my hand on this one.

You have a few more lines on your face and I know I caused most of them. But you will always be my Irish girl with the nut brown hair.
I have a lot more to say to you, babe. But I'm gonna save that for a more private place. ;)

If a man's from Texas, he'll tell you. If he's not, why embarrass him by asking?

Give me Y.A.Tittle, Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr...

Paul Hornung, Gale Sayers, John Mackey.
Names sound familiar?
How about Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Ray Nitschke, Dick Butkis
Fran Tarkenton, Jerry Kramer.

So who the fu** is this head butting, wife beating Chad Johnson and aren't we glad that the Dolphins are showing some social balls.

And I never wonder why I quit watching "professional" sports. Because, after all, it's not about the sports, but the money.

You can thank me any time for no rant. I'm trying to do that less and less for my bride. And I censored my profanity for my lady readers. Although I  know some of them can give me a run for the roses.  ;)
