There was a miscommunication in my last post and it was my fault. When I mention my best friend I was speaking of my wife. She will always be the best. I brought her home today and she is doing well. The Oncologist and I had a heart to heart today. Without chemo she will live 3 to 6 months. With chemo, which he feels she will take to, then she has 3 to 5 years of a good quality of life.
I will continue to blog. She asked me to. And I will continue to read my blogroll. Y'all are the best.
Thank you.

DeleteGOOD LUCK MY FRIEND!!! THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FOR THE BOTH OF YOU.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteBest of luck to her and a speedy recovery. Research Turmeric spice for help. Like your blog. Stop by "itaintholywater" if u get a chance dude.
ReplyDeleteThanks for for the tip. Glad you stop by to read. I'll be visiting soon.
DeleteBest of luck. I've beat it twice so far and my belief is that once cancer comes into your body, you will eventually die from it if you live long enough. If I'm not too inquisitive, where is the cancer? I'm sure you know that chemo doesn't work on all cancers, something I first found out many years ago by walking into the doctor section at the VA and reading the bulletin board. When I mentioned this (Doesn't work on head and neck) to a doctor later he said "Where did you learn that?" Now, advances may have been made since then and of course there is radiation.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your encouragement. She has metastatic colon cancer. It is in her liver and lungs. Supposed to start chemo in 3 weeks.
DeleteThey told my grandma the same thing 3 to 6 years. 20 years later she is still goning strong and the cancer has never come back
ReplyDeleteThanks for your words. Good news about your grandma.
DeleteMost of the folks in my family succumb to cancer, eventually. But as long as the quality of life is good, fight the good fight. My best to you and your wife, CC.
ReplyDeleteAt this point quality of life is what we want. Thank you.
Deleteyou are in my thoughts and prayers
ReplyDeleteThanks man.
DeletePrayers and good thoughts for you and your lovely wife.
ReplyDeleteKeep fighting the good fight.

Jim
Thank you, Sir. All prayers are welcome.
DeleteHey CC,
ReplyDeleteThe Mrs. and you are now on me prayer list and I have sent your war onto other prayer warriors.
I follow WC and Pissed and some other like minded, a bit sick, twisted folks. I know the power of prayer cannot be matched in our small world.
With your permission I would like to toss up a small post at my site so others will be praying for your wife and yours.
Never can have too much prayer.
May He watch over, protect you both and all concerned.
Thank you. You are most welcome to post a prayer request. I have the utmost respect for prayer warriors. I have witnessed their power. Thank you again.
DeleteMy pleasure and honor to be of service CC. Least I can do for ya all.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your wife, you are definitely in my prayers .......good luck and ill pray for remission ......;(
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Mike.
DeleteI came across your blog via "The Feral Irishman" and "Patriot's Corner". I have lost two friends in recent years both to esophageal cancer, and my dad lost his friend, who he grew up with as a young lad, to leukemia when he was still way too young, leaving three teenage kids behind. He was a successful skipper, a real go-getter and a terrific guy. Came home from the sea one day with a bruise on his arm. Just writing this is bringing back a lot of memories.
ReplyDeleteYour wife has you by her side, and that's huge. I don't know if you know Billy Joe Shaver, but I remember him saying once that when his wife became ill, it was an opportunity for him to look after her, & let her know how much he loved her, after all the times she's been there for him.
I don't know what to say here; maybe nothing anyone says can really make much of a difference at the end of the day, then again knowing that people do care about you does help, I think. So rest assured you and your wife will be in my thoughts today, and I will say a prayer for you both as well.
Nick (from Scotland)
Thank you Nick. I am sorry for you losses. As older people I know it comes with the territory. Still the loss is mighty.
DeleteThe fact that I am old enough to not have to work every day is a blessing. (I'm self employed) We have a lot of time to revisit each other. Both of our children and our grand children live on the same street as we do. That is a huge help.
Living in Texas, Billy Joe is a required education point, or should be. What you said about him is very important to me. The way we say it here is that it's payback time.
Addressing your last paragraph. Yes words are powerful. All of these posts have made my wife and I smile. The prayers will not be unheard, we know. The best wishes are cherished and taken to heart.
You are the third person I have had contact with from Scotland. The last one was my best fishing partner before he passed away. You people are an awesome breed.
Thank you. Sorry for rambling.
My uncle (a cancer survivor) is a great Billy Joe fan; we drove down to Glasgow a couple of years ago to see Billy Joe play at the Arches.
DeleteHe played "Heart's a'Bustin'" and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Not where I was sitting anyway, I'd lost my Dad not too long before that and believe you me, he would have been there with us to see Billy Joe too.
There are quite a few Billy Joe Shaver fans up here in Scotland.
After the concert I spoke with Billy Joe and told him that I'd listened to his music a lot after my Dad passed away, shook the man's hand and said thanks.
My uncle once told me that when he finally leaves us, he doesn't want a big fuss, we've just to play "The Real Deal" by Billy Joe Shaver, and send him on his way.
Hey Mr CC,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your bad news "Pissed" is my husband and I saw it via his bolg..Your wife is very lucky to have a wonderful loving husband at her side through this terrible ordeal, and your love and compassion will help her get through the toughest times. Our thoughts are with you and your family ...Grassmouse
Thank you. You have my utmost respect for having to put up with that pissed Irishman. I have a semi-pissed Irishwoman I live with. ;)
DeleteThank you for your words. Give your husband a big never let go hug.
Very sorry to read this news. Thinking and praying for you both!!!
ReplyDeleteCC:
ReplyDeleteYou and the Mrs. have been added to "the list". Will put in my $0.02 to The Big Guy that the doc is wrong and she's got a lot more time left than that...
I am so very sorry to hear this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I have seen God work miracles. May you have strength and peace.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that sucks. I hate cancer. Know that though we've never met "for real," we're all here in spirit for you.

ReplyDeleteMy niece, age 50, has finished her months of chemo, and 9 weeks of DAILY radiation due to invasive STAGE 4 cancer.
ReplyDeleteI had an ileostomy at age 39 and am now 60. This week I'll be undergoing further tests to determine if I have another long row to hoe, since all signs point to 'yes', but it's not in the doctor's hands. I will decide what and how this plays out: not them.
no matter what, I just want to be courageous and dignified.
You and your wife are in my prayers. Phil 4:6-7
ReplyDeleteThe Good Lord loves the love, and loves the fighter. May you and your love have many moments of joy in your journey, remembering that when the Lord is ready it is good to go with God. Hope to see y'all in His Kingdom.
