Grandpa's journal.

The entries in the journal get pretty sparse for the rest of the year. (Blog fatigue? ;) ) I'm sure some of it had to do with harvest and those things.

Wife started for Burns. (Oregon)

Rained

Pulled trees in P.M.

Tuesday October 3 1911
Pulled trees. Rain

Saturday October 7, 1911
Went to Redmond. Wife got home from Burns.

Week of October 8-14, 1911

Saturday October 14, 1911
Started to work on Sutton's clearing.

Week of October 15-21, 1911

Thursday October 19, 1911
Sutter clearing.

Friday October 20, 1911
Got horse shod in Am. Worked  on S. clearing in Pm.

Saturday October 21, 1911
Worked on clearing.

  1. Grandpa's journal is enigmatic. Apparently he only needed a few words to spark a vivid memory.
    He had to be keeping his journal for his own purposes. Certainly not for posterity.
    Do you run across any journal entries that bring up memories of family stories?

  2. A few. I remember the little house and the big house. The big house was the one they lived in when I was little. My understanding is that that house still remains.

    There are a few more memories, but unfortunately it begs more questions than answers. I have only one relative left that can answer those. I really need to call him.
