All I said was "Pledge" and it was on!
The only thing they didn't know how to do was fold the flag. They watched and asked questions. They learned this day. Oldest grandson earned the honor.
About sunset we built a bonfire, said a prayer and talked about the flag as it was burned with respect.
We were close to the tradition and I told them no when the idea of smores was brought up.
Oh, hell! Gotta love grand kids.
