Grandpa's Journal

Sunday April 30, 1911
To our S.S. Fox preached. Came home to dinner. Went to Hall's in P.M.

Monday May 1, 1911
Pulled 53 trees for D. in A.M. Fixed Gerald's wagon in P.M.

Tuesday May 2, 1911
Made closet. Went to freighter.

Wednesday May 3, 1911
Took colts to pasture. Got bill of lumber at Detrich's. To George's.

Thursday May 4, 1911
To Redmond got feed ground. Got ready to go to Portland.

Friday May 5, 1911
Started for Portland at 5:30. Left Opal City on time. Arrived in P. 8:13. To hotel Medford
I have to assume this was by train.

Saturday May 6, 1911
Bought lumber. Spent day looking around. To play in evening.

  1. What's not said leaves a lot to the imagination doesn't it.
    I don't know why your Grandpa's cryptic journal entries intrigue me so much. My mind strives to create the details. Perhaps I was born a couple of generations later than I should have been.

  2. I am in the same boat. I have the advantage that I spent time with him and time on the ranch. But still there are a lot of questions left unanswered. I appreciate you sharing the journey with me. And by the way, I'm not peaking ahead. I want each week to be a surprise.
